The other day while I was listening to a song by Jonathan McReynolds. The song title is “Make Room.” The Holy Spirit arrested my heart and said to me. What about me? Daughter, did you forget about me? How long will you start your day without acknowledging me? How long will you ignore me? Immediately, I felt a great conviction in my heart. I cried out to the Holy Spirit with a heart of repentance. I asked the Holy Spirit to forgive me for putting people, places, and things before Him. I’m thankful that God doesn’t respond to us as we treat Him! How would we feel if we needed God to move on our behalf and He told us, oh, I can’t right now? I have something that I need to do first. We would be in bad shape if God treated us the same way we do Him. It’s refreshing to know that God never puts on us hold. The scripture states in Psalms 46:1, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Did you hear a very “present” help? That’s our God! Whenever you need God, He’s right there! No delay! Thank you, Lord, that you are always available and attentive to our needs.
I want to present a question to you. When is the last time you set aside time to love God? Have you expressed to the Father, you love HIM, and how much you need HIM? The Father longs to hear your voice. The Father longs to spend time with you. The Father loves you to dote over HIM! God enjoys doing the same to you. I have something exciting to share with you! The God of the universe is crazy about YOU! He died on a cross so that you might have a relationship with HIM. He doesn’t want you to wait until you get to heaven to fellowship with HIM, but He wants you to spend time with Him at this very moment. Guess what else? The LORD loves you so much that the Scripture mentions how the LORD loves to sing to you. In Zephaniah 3:17 (NLT), ” For the LORD your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.” All I can say is, wow! I’m blown away by this revelation. Open up your spiritual ears to hear the melodies our Father is singing for you. He’s singing songs of hope, victory, strength, deliverance, and joy to you.
We must never take our relationship with God for granted and treat our heavenly Father as ordinary. Just take a moment to reflect on the ways God has made. Think about the mighty things God has done in your life. Never forget God’s abundant love for you! More importantly, always focus on the redemptive work Jesus accomplished on the cross. He traded his life for your life. He replaced his pain for your pain. Jesus left us filled with a wealthy and eternal inheritance. In this new year, God doesn’t want you to settle for religious rhetoric or jargon. God’s desire is for you to go deeper and have a personal encounter with Him. God wants YOU to encounter His presence in fresh and exciting ways. He wants to speak directly to you. God wants you to become acclimated with hearing and knowing His voice. God longs to fill every void in your life with His Spirit. “Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures forevermore.” (Psalm 16:11) Everything we need is discovered by spending time with God. I have a word for you and me! It’s time to stop being religious! It’s time to start developing a relationship with the Holy Spirit.
As we step into 2021, it is wise to chase God and meet with our heavenly Father. To navigate in this new year with success, we must be able to hear and identify God’s voice with clarity. Out of all the New Year’s resolutions we create and follow, our top goal is to pursue God’s presence. “But seek you first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:33) As you practice God’s presence and become familiar with His voice, God will download wisdom, insight, revelation, and strategies.
I pray as we embark on 2021 that God will blow your mind in this new year. I pray as you abide in God’s presence that you and your family are blessed! As God commanded his blessing and favor towards Obed-Edom and his entire household. (See 2 Samuel 6:11-23 & 1 Chronicle 26:4-8) May God bring wholeness, peace, prosperity to you and your family. May God refresh you with His strength, healing, and His presence. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
